Quite a lot has been happening lately, so I thought it time to offer a few updates.
Firstly, as many of you know, I am currently working on an expanded, updated edition of my 1995 cryptozoology book In Search of Prehistoric Survivors, which I originally expected to see completed and published by August of this year. Unfortunately, however, this is not going to happen, because of the Starwriter-related problems that I outlined in a previous blog here. Namely, the original edition's manuscript (prepared in 1994) was written on a Canon Starwriter 80, which died just as I was ready to begin the conversion of its Prehistoric Survivors discs into PC-compatible format, and as my PC does not even recognise the presence of these discs when inserted into its floppy disc drive, none of the conversion programmes kindly suggested by some of you earlier would function.
Consequently, due to the prolonged delay in converting the original edition's manuscript into PC-compatible format manually, which needed to be done before I could even begin the updating process, it means that, sadly, and in answer to a number of correspondents asking me recently, I shall not be at this year's Weird Weekend, to launch the new edition there as originally planned - because it simply won't be ready in time, but I am hoping that it will be out in time for Christmas.
Below, meanwhile, as a worldwide exclusive, is an early version of what the cover of the new book may well look like, as designed and illustrated by highly-acclaimed Arkansas-based wildlife artist and longstanding friend William Rebsamen - thanks, Bill!
Please note, however, that since this version was produced, I've changed the title of the book, with Still In Search of Prehistoric Survivors now its subtitle (I'm keeping the new main title under wraps for now!):

Some of Bill's greatest cryptozoological artwork will be appearing in it. So too, I hope, will some wonderful artwork by various other extremely talented artist friends of mine, including Markus Buehler, Tim Morris, Richard Svensson, and Ant Wallace.
On Facebook, I have a Fan Page, which during the past 24 hours alone has almost doubled its membership, so thank you to everyone for supporting it. I plan to add regular news and updates concerning my projects and other work there, so check it out, and if you'd like to join, I'd love to see you there!
In addition to the new Prehistoric Survivors, I am compiling my first book of poetry, The Mirror of Mnemosyne, which I also hope to see in print within the not-too-distant future.
And, of especial importance, a major British scientific book publisher is currently in the final stage of deliberation as to whether to take on an expanded, fully-updated edition of The New Zoo, whose scope if accepted would no longer be limited to just the 20th Century in relation to new and rediscovered animals - there are a fair few major discoveries and rediscoveries from the 21st Century now too. So I'm keeping my fingers and everything else tightly crossed!
And now, in the immortal words of a certain Warner Brothers cartoon star: "That's all folks!".
