I found your page nearly 10 years ago and got mystery partially solved, bookmarked it and forgot. Nice to have finally completion for the case. Besides, alternative ending was really a treat. Reminds Kubrick's 2001 ending with even larger dose of LSD. Omission of the sequence may have been understandable for commercial reasons, but what a waste they made from artistical point of view. I just came across this site while I was browsing mermaid videos on YouTube when I recalled that when i was around 5 or 6 years old in the 90s in egypt, my uncle had the same painting but which was taken from a museum I don't remember either from saudi arabia or egypt and it had a text written below the painting which said that the mermaid was found on the arabian see and since that time I was always curious about how they found it and why was there no other image and I would akways brag about the painting of the actual mermaid which was given to my uncle from a museum and now that I have come across this site I'm glad I've come to know the truth :) thank you for this post really interesting! :)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05741556327881601198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3739684561063978507.post-51405435151697483132013-05-16T11:25:28.632+01:002013-05-16T11:25:28.632+01:00This mermaid/fish can breath and swim in sea, and ...This mermaid/fish can breath and swim in sea, and it should be real..Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3739684561063978507.post-55443935635149262052012-04-05T23:40:05.802+01:002012-04-05T23:40:05.802+01:00Hi Karl,

It seems clear that some embryo might think "Hey, who needs arms and legs in here?" and mutate fins. My theory is that when apes came down from the trees, they spent some time doing the backstroke before they evolved into humans. Is it possible some of those<br />"Aquapithecus" evolved into a saltwater species known as the mermaid?<br />Great article, by the way!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
